National Kids at Hope Board Meets in St. Lucie County
St. Lucie County was chosen to host the 22-member National Kids at Hope Board meeting this year. On Friday, October 14, the Board members started out at the Homewood Suites in Tradition (the first Kids at Hope Hotel in the Nation) and boarded a bus to tour several agencies and schools in the first Kids at Hope County in the Nation! First stop was Garden City Early Learning Academy, then Bible Way Child Care & Preschool, then Lincoln Park Community Center, and lunch at Windmill Point Elementary. The busy day continued with a tour of Children’s Emporium Preschool, the TRUE Crew Afterschool Dance Program, then dinner at Homewood Suites.
Some of the very powerful quotes from Board members that day: “St. Lucie is becoming the village we all have heard about”; “I’ve been deeply touched by the leadership that has surrounded Kids at Hope”. “There is something very special happening here”.
Kids at Hope is an initiative of the Roundtable of St. Lucie County and inspires, empowers and transforms communities to create a culture where all children are capable of success, NO EXCEPTIONS! It is a belief and practice that promotes the talents, skills, goals, dreams and successes in all youth. Kids at Hope is funded by both the Children’s Services Council and the United Way of St. Lucie County.
