Substance Abuse Prevention
The good news is that most of St. Lucie County youth are not drinking alcohol or doing drugs! Keeping youth from abusing drugs and alcohol can save lives – especially when it comes to risky behavior and its consequences.
The Substance Abuse Coalition focuses on preventing underage drinking and substance abuse through education, awareness, community-wide initiatives, and changing social norms.
Our mission is to reduce and prevent youth substance abuse by building a community that supports the needs and successes of children because all children are capable of success – no exceptions!
Recently the Coalition developed a community action plan which has generated state and federal funding for underage drinking prevention. The Coalition also developed four (4) TV and radio spots on underage drinking in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club, DLF Media, the Law Offices of Evan Fetterman, Superintendent Lannon, and Sheriff Mascara.
When our children succeed the community succeeds!
